My Plus Size Outfits – December 6, 2019

Hello all, I am excited to start my next phase of my RhondaLeigh Plus Size Capsule Wardrobe. I will be doing one photo shoot per week (hopefully!) all from my own wardrobe, and I welcome your discussion, comments, and suggestions. This is going to be fun, and I am really anxious to get started!

So here’s my plus size outfits for December 6,2019

The Black Jumper and Leopard Shirt

I got this jumper probably 25 years ago at Ross. It was part of an ensemble, the jumper and a jacket. I have since given the jacket to charity because I wasn’t crazy about it. The material is a thicker stretchy knit, and works for any weather. I wear it on its own in the summer, or with an over piece or jacket, spring and fall. I love it with a sweater, tights, and boots for winter. I think it looks really classic when worn with a crisp white blouse and a colorful scarf.

The leopard shirt, I got off the sale rack at the Laramie Wyoming Walmart. It was $7, and that was back approximately 2009 or 2010. It’s stretchy nylon-rayon blend, and has metal studs accenting the scoop neckline. It’s a little short on me now, but I still love it. I tend to wear this shirt with an extender, or under a jacket or sweater, or under my jumper as shown.

My Forest Green Lacy Dress

I have noticed that lace dresses are very on-trend these days.  This one has a slight shark bite hem, so you can see the lace is configured into lovely geometric corners at the sides.  I got this dress last year on one of my famous (or infamous?) online sales forays. It’s from Lane Bryant. See how I do online sales by clicking here. I think I got 6 items for $150, So I paid roughly $25 for it, which is a steal for this style. It has a matching satin lining. There are no buttons or zippers, so you just throw it over your head and go. I love the bell sleeves. I wore this last year at our Christmas party, with black tights and boots. And I wore it several times last summer with my black strappy sandals. It’s a great all season dress.

The “Beet” Lattice Top With Print Palazzo Pants

Lane Bryant advertised the color of this lattice-sleeve top as “beet”. They are correct that beets are that color, but you get funny looks if you say, I’m wearing beet. Maybe that’s why it was on the clearance page? But I love the color and the lattice detail, and I like that its tunic length. The top was advertised as “Active Wear” but I don’t think I would ever wear it to work out in. It’s too pretty!

One might question that I’m wearing a beet top with pants that have no beet color in them. But looking at the magazines and Pinterest, I see lots of people wearing just about any solid color with a print. Remember, it doesn’t have to MATCH. It has to GO.

I got these palazzo pants from Just My Size in 2016. They were on their clearance page for $12. The pants were about a mile too long (I’m short, in case you hadn’t noticed!) so I had to hem them. But I really like these. I can dress them up with my black blazer, or dress them down with a t-shirt and tennis shoes. They are fun and different, and easy to wash and wear.

The Purple and Berry Cowl Scoop Neck Top and Black Palazzo Pants

I got this printed blouse at the same time I got the leopard top above, for $7 on the clearance rack at the Laramie Walmart. This a very comfortable top, as it is made of that same stretchy spandex blend that is so popular right now. The print material gracefully drapes over the scoop neck, leaving a black under piece covering up the cleavage, ever so modestly! My kind of top! It is a tiny bit too short now, after so many years of washing, so I add my black shirt extender (which is really a half slip, with the elastic waist pulled up under the bra line). The extender adds a little whimsy to the outfit, because it looks like a little fit and flair skirt. I love the effect.

The black palazzo pants are from Woman Within, that I bought about 6 months ago. Sorry ladies but I paid full price for these. You know how there are a few classic staple items that you need for your capsule wardrobe? Well, I had been looking for a pair of these pants for a while, never finding them on sale anywhere, so I just bought them. I think they were around $25. They are also of the spandex blend stretchy material that I’m really liking. These can be dressed up or down. I like to wear them with a black top and sparkly sandals for an evening outfit, or they would go great with my beet top above or my leopard print.

The Plum T-Shirt Dress With Lace Inset Shoulders and the Knit Infinity Scarf

This is my favorite outfit of the shoot. This was another dress I found among the “beet” clothing on Lane Bryant’s sale page. I think I paid around $25 for it. I love the a-line drape of this dress. It’s another one without fasteners of any kind, just throw it on and go. This made a cute little dress outfit with white sandals for the summer, or with that scarf, some black leggings and boots for the winter. I feel really pretty in this dress!

I got the scarf several years ago from the clearance page on the Woman Within website. The jewel colors of this scarf really make an outfit pop. It’s just a little too thick for the office though. Mainly I wear it with my winter coat on really cold days. I am wearing it with this dress, wound once. It can be worn wound twice as well because its long enough. I have a dark teal anorak jacket, and I wear this scarf with it. The little teal, pink, blue, and purple flicks of thread throughout the scarf really catch the eye.

 

In Conclusion

You can see that I didn’t spend much on these clothing items. They all make great separates to add to a capsule wardrobe because of their versatility. The colors and textures add to the interest factor of any outfit, and I really enjoy wearing them. So there you have it, my first weekly outfit photo shoot.
